If Good Men Do Nothing
Alive in Christ Radio LIVE || Christian Book of the Week:
Author: J.E. Parker
Title: If Good Men Do Nothing

Description: In a small Southern town, the murder of a young girl will send two local detectives on a hunt that puts them at odds with the most powerful men in the county. As Sullivan “Van” Hughes and Jefferson Douglass struggle to find answers to a crime no one wants solved, Van will find his principles, his honor, and his faith pushed to the limits. The fight only deepens as this crime is strangely similar to an unsolved murder that tore Sullivan’s family apart decades earlier and those similarities open up wounds he’d thought were healed.

In the end, will Sullivan’s faith and determination overcome the power of small town politics at its worst or will he be crushed by evil men? All will depend on what these good men will do.

Nobody Knows
Alive in Christ Radio LIVE || Christian Book of the Week:
Author: Craig von Buseck
Title: Nobody Knows: the Harry T. Burleigh Story

Description: It should not surprise us when we see God use the common things of life–snow, streetlights, a rented suit, a mop–to accomplish the incredible. But it should inspire us. From the depths of near obscurity at the turn of the last century, a young African American man rose to fame through those ordinary things–listening intently out in the snow as a child to beautiful music in an elegant hall, listening to his grandfather sing the old slave songs as he lit the streetlamps, sweating through a rented suit during an audition for a musical scholarship, a chance meeting with a musical legend as he was mopping the halls of his school. Through the seemingly insignificant pieces of life, God led Harry T. Burleigh along the path to fame and through him preserved the songs that would form the basis of a uniquely American music.

Now Harry T. Burleigh, once world-renowned for his career as a beautiful baritone soloist, an arranger of Negro Spirituals, and a composer in his own right, is lifted once more out of obscurity by Craig von Buseck. This inspiring true story will take readers back in time to Southern plantations and Northern boom towns, to minstrel shows and soaring sanctuaries, and into the heart of a man who never suspected that God had destined him for greatness.

Turning the Page

Alive in Christ Radio LIVE || Christian Book of the Week:
Author: Michael Bluemling Jr.
Title: Turning the Page: Overcoming Abuse to Reach Life’s Fulfillment

Do you believe it is impossible to move past the abuse you have suffered? Do you feel responsible for the abuse or unworthy of being loved?

You’re not to blame and you can move past it, as Michael Bluemling, Jr., a survivor of abuse, knows. In his new book Turning the Page: Overcoming Abuse to Reach Life’s Fulfillment, he combines a brief memoir of the abuse he suffered at his father’s hands with his road map for how to move past abuse. Because Michael did not have many support channels to cope with his past, he created a practical and effective model he could use on a day-to-day basis, and now he offers that model to his readers.

Each chapter provides a seven-step plan for a different aspect of recovery, such as getting over self-blame, overcoming pain and guilt, dealing with anxiety and depression, and learning how to trust again.

By reading Turning the Page, you will learn to:
• realize the abuse was not your fault
• change the thoughts and habits that are not serving you
• live free from fear
• break the cycle of abuse
• not give up
• trust yourself and others again
• recover one step at a time
• love yourself

You are stronger than you think, and you only have one life to live. Beginning with this book, your life of abuse can be over and a fulfilled life can be yours. Begin now.

“I believe in you, and I love you for wanting to stop the pain internally and externally. You are not alone.” — Michael Bluemling, Jr.
