Bruce was born in 1945 three months after his dad died in Germany in WWII. He has never felt what it is like to have a father hug him and say, “I love you son, I am proud of you.” His mother developed cancer in 1950 and lost that battle in 1955 when Bruce was ten years old. After his mother’s death he felt betrayed, unloved, unlovable, unwanted, rejected, abandoned, and a misfit. He shut down his emotions. His teenage years proved to be disastrous encounters in relationships. He was unable to experience intimacy. The harder he tried to be accepted, the worse he failed. He became a perfectionist so he could be perfect enough for people to like him. College became the educational grounds for looking for love in all the wrong places, chasing women, and becoming an alcoholic.
Bruce also failed in marriage and a career only to succeed in bar room drinking 101. He was unable to accept authority. He was unable to experience intimacy. After his divorce in 1980, he spent years in bar rooms, changing jobs, and failed relationships. In Miami in 1989, he was jobless and almost homeless. He had picked out a couple of bridges he was considering living under. He was at the lowest point of his life. Then, while at a religious conference, he had a “suddenly” God encounter. While he received prayer, he prayed, “God if you truly exist, give me a sign.” Suddenly it felt like a million volts of electricity went through his body as the Father poured His love into him. At that moment, he knew that he knew, that he knew he knew, that God existed and that he was loved. This began his journey back to God.
In 1995, after months of praying that God would use him in healing ministry, Bruce awoke in the middle of the night to find his bedroom ceiling visibly gone. He said, “Father, what does all of this mean?” He heard the audible voice of the Father say, “I am calling you into a healing ministry.” Then in 2007, Bruce received healing for his orphan heart condition caused by his childhood emotional wounds. This experience profoundly impressed upon him to teach about the Father’s embrace.
Bruce, and his wife Ellen, received extensive training and are alumni of Christian Healing Ministries. Bruce is President of the nondenominational healing ministry Carolinas Ecumenical Healing Ministries which is also an associate ministry of the Apostolic Network of Global Awakening.. He is a prayer minister, author, publisher, and speaker. Now in full time ministry, his mission is to lead people into intimacy with the Fathering heart of God. Through his teachings on forgiveness and the Father’s love, people have an experiential encounter with God’s love and receive healing. He is the author of two books: “The Dad I Never Knew, A War Orphan’s Search for Inner Healing,” and “My Father, My Son, Healing the Orphan Heart with the Father’s Love.” He is currently working on his next book from his own personal experiences “How My Childhood Emotional Wounds Were Healed with God’s Love.” He has seen many physical, emotional, and inner healings both in the US and on short term healing ministry trips to Guatemala and Brazil.
Bruce and Ellen together have five children and nine grandchildren.
